Background Information

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery requires up to 6 additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training. As an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. John B. Synhorst, II manages a wide variety of problems relating to the Mouth, Teeth and Facial Regions. Dr. Synhorst practices a full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with expertise ranging from treatment of Injuries and Deformities of the Head and Neck, Dentoalveolar Surgery (Removal of Teeth), Head and Neck Pathology, Dental Implant Procedures and Temporomandibular Joint Disorders.

Dr. Synhorst's staff is trained in assisting with General Anesthesia within our state-of-the-art office setting. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery.

Great Lakes Surgery Center is also part of OMAX. The Surgery Center is certified by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). The Surgery Center has it's own Operating Room where outpatient procedures are performed. It is located at 116 E. 11th Street, Suite 201, Spencer, IA 51301.

Our staff are all Registered Nurses who are Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certified.
